How to Make Thick & Glossy Slime |Easy Waffle Sundae Slime Recipe

Ā Okay, I’m finally giving you guys the recipe for this one. šŸ˜‚

I wanted to make a REALLY thick and glossy slime for my Waffle Sundae, and this one never disappoints. I used mostly Elmer’s School Glue, added a little clear glue, and kept the rest of the recipe pretty simple.

And before anybody panics when they see the video… yes, I used an entire gallon of glue. šŸ˜‚ Obviously you do NOT need to make that much, so I did the math and scaled my recipe down to 1 cup of School Glue for you.

But here’s the biggest thing I learned with this slime: do not judge it right after you make it.

When I first finished mine, it was full of air bubbles from all the mixing and kneading. I put it away and let it sit for a few days, and when I came back to it… HOLY GLOSS. šŸ‘€āœØ

It glossed up SO nice.

So make it, get it activated, put it in an airtight container and give it a few days before you decide what you think.

Alright, let’s make it. 🩵

What You’ll Need

1-Cup Thick & Glossy Slime Recipe

ā— 1 cup Elmer’s School GlueĀ Ā

ā— 1/4 cup Elmer’s Clear GlueĀ

ā— About 1 pump lotion (use whatever you have on hand)

ā— 1 teaspoon baby oil (any brand)

ā— Food coloring of your choice

ā— Skin-safe fragrance oil appropriate for your project, optional

ā— Foaming hand soap (optional)Ā  I use unscentedĀ

ā— Regular borax activator, added gradually

For mine, I used Sky Blue food coloring and Coconut Cream Pie fragrance oil from Lone Star Candle Supply because… Waffle Sundae. šŸ„„šŸ§‡

Step 1: Mix the Glues

Add 1 cup Elmer’s School Glue and 1/4 cup Elmer’s Clear Glue to your bowl.

Mix them together really well until everything is completely combined.

Step 2: Add the Lotion

Add about 1 pump of lotion and mix it in completely.

Nothing complicated here. Just make sure it’s mixed in really well before moving on.

Step 3.Ā  Add the baby oilĀ

Add 1 teaspoon of baby oil and mix again.

This is one of the ingredients I use to get that smooth super glossy look I wanted for this slime.

You can also add foaming hand soap approx 1/2 pump.Ā  Find it here

Step 4: Color It

Now add your color.

I used Sky Blue food coloring for mine. Start with a tiny bit because you can always add more.

Obviously, if blue isn’t your thing, use whatever color you want.

Step 5: Add Your Scent (optional)

For my Waffle Sundae, I used Coconut Cream Pie fragrance oil from Lone Star Candle Supply, and it smells SO good with this theme. šŸ„„šŸ§‡

Find the Coconut Cream Pie fragrance I used here

Use a fragrance that’s appropriate for your project and stay within the manufacturer’s recommended usage rate.

Or don’t scent it at all. Totally up to you.

Step 6: Activate It

Now grab your regular borax activator.Ā  1 tsp of borax to one cup hot water.Ā  Mix until completly dissolved

Add it a little at a time and mix between additions.

Do NOT dump a bunch in there at once. This is where it’s really easy to get activator-happy and end up with a slime that’s way too stiff. šŸ‘€

Keep mixing and you’ll start seeing the slime come together and pull away from the bowl.

Once it starts forming, get your hands in there and start kneading it.

If it still feels sticky, keep kneading before automatically adding more activator.

If it really does need more, add another small amount and keep working it.

It’s a whole lot easier to add a little more activator than it is to deal with an overactivated slime.

Now Let it rest.Ā  Once your slime is activated and you’re happy with the texture, put it into an airtight container.

And now comes the hard part.

Let it rest for a few days.Ā Ā

Freshly made slime has a TON of tiny air bubbles trapped inside from all the mixing and kneading. As the slime sits, those bubbles start settling out.

And THIS is when the magic happens.

After mine sat for a couple of days, I opened that container and…

HOLY GLOSS. šŸ‘€āœØ

It glosses up SO NICE.

It was thick, smooth and way glossier than it was when I first made it.

So... if you make this recipe and immediately think, Mine doesn’t look as glossy as hers, don’t start dumping more stuff into it trying to fix it.

Give it some time.

Put it in an airtight container.

The Giant Batch I Actually Made šŸ˜‚

Okay, for anybody wondering what you actually saw me making in the video…

THIS was my original slime-shop-sized batch:

ā— 1 gallon Elmer’s School Glue

ā— 1/4 gallon Elmer’s Clear Glue

ā— 14 pumps lotion

ā— 1/3 cup baby oil

ā— Sky Blue food coloring

ā— Coconut Cream Pie fragrance oil

ā— Regular activator, added graduallyĀ

ā— 2 pumps foaming hand soapĀ

So…

Unless you need a small mountain of slime sitting in your house, I’d probably stick with the 1-cup recipe.

Turn It Into Your Own Slime

I used this thick and glossy base to make my blue Waffle Sundae slime, complete with its waffle and ice-cream-inspired clay topper and decorations. šŸ§‡šŸØ

But you definitely don’t have to make the same thing.

This is where you can have fun with it.

Change the color.

Change the scent.

Add clay pieces.

Throw in charms or sprinkles.

Or don’t add anything at all and just enjoy your giant blob of ridiculously glossy slime. šŸ˜‚

Thick & Glossy Slime Troubleshooting

My slime is still sticky.

First, keep kneading it.

If it’s still too sticky after you’ve worked with it, add a small amount of activator and knead again.

Don’t add a ton at once.

My slime is too stiff.

You probably got a little activator-happy. šŸ˜‚

That’s why I add mine gradually and knead between additions.

Why isn’t my slime glossy?

Did you JUST make it?

Let it rest for a few days and it will gloss up.

Fresh slime is filled with tiny air bubbles from mixing and kneading. Put it into an airtight container and let it sit undisturbed for a few days.

Mine became way glossier after resting.

Can I use a different color?

Yep!

Sky Blue is just what I used for my Waffle Sundae. Use whatever color works with the slime you’re making.

Do I have to scent it?

Nope.

Fragrance is completely optional. You can absolutely leave your slime unscented.

There’s Always Another Experiment šŸ‘€

Now that you have my thick & glossy base recipe, make it your own.

Pick a color.

Pick a scent.

Come up with a theme.

And see what happens.

If you make something ridiculously good, I wanna know what you made. šŸ‘€šŸ©·Ā

And who knows… I might have to try one of your ideas next.
